I tried firefox and chrome. Same result. I managed to upload one image after multiple page reloads, but that's not a fix.

Hmm, try is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's cache
Orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced. On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies". Then try reloading the page.

Does that help?

Tired both already=( The inconsistency is strange. If something didn't work, the upload wouldn't do the job 100% of times, not 99%.

So then you can see the upload button and you can open a window to select files to upload?

Yes I can see both the window and the upload button. When I press on it nothing happens.

I was experiencing the same problem from Firefox, but not from Chromium browser (Ubuntu Linux 12.10). Chromium would open a file selction dialog window *behind* the Phereo window. I got Firefox to finally work by altering NoScript to unblock 'google-SOMETHING.com'... but I cannot find which API site it was that I unblocked. I think it was "googletagservices.com" The button action is not related to Flash, but is a google API calling a jQuery action, and I think "/s/" may be the name involved in the javascript invocation.

I've had problems with Chrome's internal flash - try IE or Opera. They work for me.

Have changed nothing (that I'm aware of) but today the window opens correctly and I've been able to upload images for the first time!

oh dear. the upload button has disappeared again - at least for side-by-side uploads. relevant buttons appear for all other types of upload though.

Due to the fact that you are having persistent problems, I recommend that you use a free Phereoshop app (http://phereoshop.com/) as a image uploader to Phereo.
